A New Zero 0.75

I'll try and post more information soon, I pretty much rewrote the whole game the last couple months so I can't really think too much right now. Let me know what you think, it's definitely going to need some balancing.

But how do you use the cargo boat/plane?

you use the tab menu go to one of the top options and then buy stuff then you take it to another island and then sell it?

also make all the controls mappable so i can use a joystick better instead of a the mouse or keyboard

Bug report! I get an often-orange sometimes-black "ghost image" kind of thing that hangs above the actual image, (for instance, there is a faux "A New Zero" hanging above the actual one in the main menu). Tried this on a friend's PC, same thing. Only occurs in the 3D rendering. Seems to appear (and subsequently worsen) with any increase in resolution beyond 1024x768. My own specs are:

Video: GeForce 8800GTS 320MB

Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ (2 CPUs), ~2.4GHz

Memory: 2048MB RAM

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

The other PC I tried has totally different specs, but I know it's quad-core and GeForce 8/9 series w/ 1GB VRAM.

Thomas you have up to date video drivers right?

also it might be windows 7

you could also try going into nvidia controls and change those around

I think that bug happens in any resolution that's not 4:3, I'll fix that in the next version.

Hmm...it says i need OpenGL 2.0
I don't have that, could someone reply with a download link or tell me where I can get it?

coolguy: I will be adding more joystick options in the next version.

Azbec: You're getting that message because your video card doesn't support OpenGL 2.0, it's probably an Intel card, unfortunately they don't support 2.0 even though their cards are capable of supporting it. I'll try to add backward compatibility into the next version, but it won't look nearly as good.

yeah so i don't get the trade system

what does raw do and what do the other ones you can sell and buy do

do they have different values?

all I guessed that mines make raw factories turn raw into not raw(forgot what you called it) then you can buy the not raw and sell it somewhere else getting you money.

is it just away to have more money so you don't sit around waiting for your money to increase so you can buy a plane?

Trying this out, still can't quite figure some bits.

How does trading work.. I've loaded a plane with goods, flown to the enemy island, gone into one of their hangars and there's no sell option anywhere that I can see.

After a bit more play... the capitol is way too easy to destroy, 2 missiles from the missile boat and it's toast.

Giving the range-finder ability makes it really easy to be on the button every time too. 55degrees=450 distance give or take etc...

I'm still working on the trading system, but right now the mines make raw materials, the factories turn those into goods. You can buy goods produced on one island and sell it to another for a profit, but you can only trade with your own islands or neutral islands. So trading isn't possible on the map with two islands.

I really like the new version, but it needs a bit of work. one thing that might be nice is a core to destroy some of the non-esential buildings on the islands. Also something helpfull would be some runway lights for night time. Other than that, tumbs up for version 0.75!

It's slightly too easy to win (or loose for that matter), a couple of missiles from a boat and the capital is toast. BTW, how does a player win the "Roy Sawyers award?"

Still playing through the game to find out anythin' that needs fixed.

BUG: O pauses the the game

Question: Is research functionality active? Or is that tab just a placeholder.

Balance Issue: A GunBoat with Canons can sneak around back and destroy the capitol OR camp at the enemy spawn and spawn kill.

Thanks for the feedback, I've fixed the pause bug. The capitol can be rebuilt, once the research is in you won't be able to bomb right away. For the gunboats I think I'll have to add another type of defense to prevent that. I'll try to get a new version up tomorrow with the fixes and research.

As of now, it would appear as though they're just fun to blow up.

Also a slightly related pseudo-bug: You cab blow out the middle of a building and the top section floats. This doesn't seem very physicsy.

Suggestion: Allow for the purchase of fuel (or ammunition) at neutral islands.

To use auto pilot, press "e".

All it does is keep you at a constant altitude while pointing you in a straight line. You can turn with the arrow keys, but that's about it for navigation in AP.

That's just fantastic. I'm happy you made it Alex! Have had a few rounds in coop, because none of my friends were available and there were no populated servers, and it was huge fun, even though i had to fight about 4 bots all on my own and they handed me my @ss all the time. So it would be nice to have the option to choose wether to have bots in one's own team in coop, as to even the odds. When i'll find the time i will try to get into the whole trading system stuff. Too much game in such a small package. Truly a masterpiece.
