The Precipice

Since finishing the underwhelming armor test I've been working on getting the rest of the game back in/added.  In the video you can see an attack plane, currently armed with a 75mm tank cannon that stalls the plane if you fire more than 3 or 4 rounds.  I'll be changing it to a more reasonable sized gun and add a bomb for dive bombing.  Next is a voxel landscape engine that I will try and get in soon, I'm not really satisfied with the height-mapped landscape in right now, I also want the terrain to modifiable so you can dig trenches.  Finally there's the building system I'm working on, right now it's very Minecraftian but I think eventually it will be done with bigger chunks instead of a block at a time so you can build bridges or bunkers faster.

Next test version is scheduled for Friday.

Tanks now such an easy target for planes. Would you add an anti-aircraft tank? Like Shilka.

Your work absolutely amazes me. So are we getting infantry of sorts?

Looks like A New Zero got the fire again.

On release I will host a server of this until I die or a vocal majority of fans pressure you into removing nights and adding killstreaks.

(until I die)

I've been following the development of a new zero since RPS covered it in 2009 and all I can say is:

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!

if only this game was, you know, way more famous, it completely deserves it.

I think it would be nice to see more buildings (sort of like the war is in a city), with bases colored the team color, and vehicles that can hold 2 people (1 person shoots while another drives).

This game is getting some really cool features...

Just a quick idea, explosive mines or barrels to be set up would be cool. Explosive barrels in the voxel buildings for a bigger boom!

like pirate0r says above: take my money, please!

so much good stuff!

don't know what else you've got going on, but maybe you could put yourself on kickstarter or something and devote yourself full-time to this game?

Two completely separate (yet complimentary ideas):

- For speeding construction, could we use something akin to the engineer truck from Arma? Load it full of supplies to build with, drive to building site, activate building menu to select building type, and the watch it build?

- Taking the "minecraftian" idea a step further, would it be feasible to allow users to build things in this minecraft style (out of combat, obviously) then save them to a "blueprint" (little text config thingies in the game directory) that allows them to speed-build them with the engineer truck style described in the first suggestion?

This way you get the creativity and ingenuity of the building by hand aspect; with the practicality, ease of use, and integration with existing systems (mines, factories, vehicles) of a vehicle based building template system.
