7DFPS Day 5
The vehicle physics are now working, I spend a good part of the day yesterday driving around the city doing power slides. I really like the idea of a player being the getaway driver, knowing the best routes through the city. I want to make it so the other players in the car can hang out the window shooting at pursuers, I'm not sure if I'll have time to do that though.
Today I'll be fixing up the vehicles more, making it look more car shaped, and adding more detail to the city. I'm going to try and have a prototype working later today, there's still a bunch of things I need to add/fix first though. The shooting needs some work, right now the player hit detection is a sphere, I need to change that to a capsule or multiple spheres. I need to add some gun models, muzzle flash, hitpoints, crosshairs, a better human model, and probably a dozen other things I can't think of right now. The last thing I'll need for the prototype is the briefcase item, I want to have a system where you can put other items in the briefcase, like stacks of money or the secret item. I see this as being a potential cool moment, where each team checks the other briefcase to make sure what's in there is what they agreed on. I think it would be fun to eventually have a way to put newspaper in the briefcase instead of money, if you would rather just shoot it out.
